The Ultimate Book Tag! (in which I shamelessly tagged myself)

I saw Aimee @ Deadly Darlings do The Ultimate Book Tag and share her fabulousness for all the internet to see. And although I wasn't tagged, (*cough*No one ever tags me.*cough*) I figured this would be fun to do. ^__^ C'mon, it's totally fine to tag myself, right?

The Ultimate Book Tag

1. Do you get sick while reading in the car?

I don't read in the car. AT ALL. I've tried before, but it just makes me dizzy. Also, my eyesight's so bad as it is; I'm not planning to go blind anytime soon.

2. Which author's writing style is completely unique to you and why?

Matthew Quick. I've only read two of his works (The Silver Linings Playbook and Sorta Like A Rock Star), but as I've mentioned in my review of Sorta Like A Rock Star, I found his writing style unique and spontaneous. It's like this guy doesn't care much for commas. LOL

3. Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.

HP all the way!
* Harry Potter is not just about magic. It's about love, friendship, family, sacrifice, social justice and equality and doing what is right.
* Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley are kick-ass chicks.

4. Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is in it (besides books)?

Not a book bag, per se. But I can't go out without a bag. I just feel naked without one. I always bring the essentials: wallet (of course), handkerchief (because it's sweltering hot!), comb and ponytails (for bad hair days), my phone and my e-reader.

5. Do you smell your books?

ABSOLUTELY! I love the smell of books. Old books, new books, they all smell heaven to me. (Although some new books I've encountered before smell faintly like vomit; I don't know why.) My little sister saw me sniffing my book mail and now she also sniffs my books. ^__^

6. Books with or without little illustrations?

Eh. Either. I don't really mind illustrations as long as they're not distracting.

7. What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn't quality writing?

Twilight. (The entire series, actually.) I liked the books when I was reading them, although it's not because of the writing.

8. Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!

I don't have any funny stories to share, but my father used to scold me because I was reading romance pocketbooks even before I was even 10. He said that I'd probably marry at a young age. Hah! He couldn't have been more wrong. :P

9. What is the tiniest book on your shelf?

They're not tiny, but the thinnest books on my shelf so far are Richard III and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. (Got them super cheap, too!)

10. What is the thickest book on your shelf?

It's actually two books in one. This edition of Jonathan Safran Foer's Everything is Illuminated and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is the thickest book on my shelf so far. I haven't picked it up yet, but Goodreads says it has 656 pages. #ChallengeAccepted

11. Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?

Yes, but mostly poems. I rarely write short stories anymore. And it's not a regular thing. I think the last time I've written something was two years ago. I used to dream to become an author, but that's not in my future anymore.

12. When did you get into reading?

I've always been a reader ever since I was a kid, although dictionaries and encyclopedia are my thing back then. (Nerd much?) And then I discovered romance pocketbooks, both Filipino and English ones. I got initiated into popular YA via Twilight. And the rest is Goodreads history.

13. What is your favorite classic book?

I've only read a few, but the closest I have to a favorite classic is Jane Eyre.

14. In school what was your best subject?

I was totally rocking English in high school, but when I got to college, not so much. Totally not my fault, though. I just had the most rotten luck of having lame-ass professors. (I have five English subjects this semester and the professors all look promising. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they ARE really good.)

15. If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated, what would you do?

I'd still keep it. I'd be too guilty and embarrassed to give away or sell a book that's gifted to me.

16. What is a lesser known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or The Hunger Games?

Angie Sage's Septimus Heap series, only because it has magic. I don't know any lesser known series similar to The Hunger Games.

17. What is a bad habit you always do while blogging?

18. What is your favorite word?

BOOKS. Seriously. Whenever I hear or see that word, my heart goes fluttery. Hihi.. ^__^

19. Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb? Or all of the above?

I'm more of a nerd.

20. Vampires or Fairies? Why?

I haven't read a lot of books with fairies (except for The Mortal Instruments series), so I'd go for vampires. Not the sparkling ones, though.

21. Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?

Shapeshifters. Being able to change appearance at will is a really cool ability. Don't tell me you don't find Mystique amazing. No? Oh well.

22. Spirits or Werewolves? Why?

Spirits because they can be invisible. (I'm pretty sure spirits are by default invisible.) Also, I don't fancy turning into a wild creature every full moon.

23. Zombies or Vampires? Why?

Vampires (again). Animated corpses in various stages of decay shuffling around trying to eat my brain? *shudders* No, thanks.

24. Love triangle or Forbidden love?

I'd go for forbidden love. I dig star-crossed lovers and the you-and-me-against-the-fucking-world thing. There's also something deeply satisfying reading about a love that triumphed against all odds. (Cheesy!)

25. And finally: Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?

I have nothing against romance books; I've read my fair share of them. But I always prefer books with some oomph!, you know what I mean? I love characters who kick some ass and then make out later. LOL

And there you have it! Now I'd like to tag these fabulous people:

Anna @ herding cats & burning soup
Carmel and Kyla @ Carmel and Kyla
Luigi @ Reading with Luigi
(You don't have to do this if you don't want to, but I'm really looking forward to your answers, guys!)
And everyone else who wants to do this! Leave me the links to your post if you do!
Have a great week ahead! ^__^
