Fans of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy will just love this creepy and alluring teen thriller. Complete with action, techie intrigue, a horrifying mystery, and a blossoming romance full of sparks, Find Me is an exhilarating debut.

When teen hacker and foster child Wick Tate finds a dead classmate's diary on her front step, with ma note reading "Find me," she sets off on a perverse game of hide-and-seek to catch the killer. But things get even more personal as Wick's deadbeat dad returns and the killer points to Wick's sister Lily as the next target.

With the help of oh-so-cute hacker-boy-next-door Griff, can Wick find her tormentor and save her sister?

Find Me won a 2012 Golden Heart Award and placed first in the 2011 YA Unpublished Maggie Awards (given by Georgia Romance Writers).

My Thoughts

Teen hacker Wick Tate has more than enough to worry about. Her father is on the run from the police, a cop stops by the front of her house at night, and she doesn't know how long the life she and her sister have now will last. So when she finds her classmate Tessa's diary on her doorstep and learns that Tessa committed suicide, Wick didn't know what to do. Until she tracks who sent her the diary and discovers that she and her sister might be in danger.

Find Me has an interesting premise and I've been so excited to read this book because HACKERS! Me loves good hacker movies and wants to see the action in books as well. However, Find Me fell short of my expectations.

It started off a bit slow and I often found myself impatient for action. I think the book focused more on the development of romance between Wick and Griff. Also, I would have liked to know more about Wick's hacking aside from what she did for her clients and when she tracked down who sent her the diary. Tessa's diary, which should be a major plot device, was shoved in the sidelines. Wick didn't even get much information from it.

Wick, as a main character, doesn't have that strong of a voice. She's not too likable. But I admired the fact that she's independent and resilient. She's also smart and while she doesn't trust anybody, she has the strongest motivation for the things that she does: her love for her sister Lily. Griff, I'm afraid, seemed more of a clich√©. A nice guy with secrets who falls for the conflicted girl. Yeah, I've already seen a lot of that. It didn't stop me swooning, though. :)

The story is great but as I've said, it started off slow. Things picked up towards the end when Wick discovered who the perpetrator was. At last, the action I've been waiting for! I figured out who the bad guy was halfway through the book so I wasn't really surprised. I enjoyed the second half of Find Me more than the beginning, mainly because this was where the conflict was resolved. My favorite part was when Wick thought she had killed the bad guy but when she came back, he had already escaped. That actually got me holding my breath.

All things considered, I can say that I enjoyed reading Find Me. I'll definitely read the next book, Remember Me, because I'd like to read more of Wick and Griff.

Just because someone should protect you doesn't mean they will.

It must be nice to still believe in people, to think they really do care about each other.

I don't want to believe in a God who would turn his back on someone who needed him so much. Suicides, more than anyone, deserve God's love. They're the lost ones, the forgotten ones, the ones he's supposed to notice.
