[REVIEW] Leif by Abbi Glines

Author: Abbi Glines
Genre: YA Fantasy, Paranormal
Series: Existence trilogy, Book 2.5
Published: July 3rd 2012
Buy Now: Kindle

"She was mine. I owned her souluntil Death stole her heart."

LEIF is a novella from the Existence series. It is glimpses into Leif's point-of-view during both Existence and Predestined.

One of the reasons why I dig companion novels is that they help me understand more about the characters they feature. This book did its job. I was able to know Leif more, aside from what Pagan and Dank think of him in Predestined. I was able to get inside his head and take a step closer to understanding him.

[REVIEW] Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin

Masque of the Red Death

Author: Bethany Griffin
Genre: YA Sci-fi, Dystopian, Romance
Series: Masque of the Red Death, Book 1
Published: April 24th 2012 by Greenwillow Books

Everything is in ruins. A devastating plague has decimated the population, and those who are left live in fear of catching it as the city crumbles around them. So what does Araby Worth have to live for? Nights in the Debauchery Club, beautiful dresses, glittery makeup . . . and tantalizing ways to forget it all.But in the depths of the club—in the depths of her own despair—Araby will find more than oblivion. She will find Will, the terribly handsome proprietor of the club, and Elliott, the wickedly smart aristocrat. Neither is what he seems. Both have secrets. Everyone does. And Araby may find not just something to live for, but something to fight for—no matter what it costs her.

MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH bored me to tears. Everything was grim and gloomy. It frustrated me so much that I felt like I wanted to strangle myself while reading it. The story failed to hook me and I couldn’t really connect with the characters.

She won't rest until she's sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.

Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that's all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real.

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn't careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies.

Great book! Just the right amount of action, romance, humor, fantasy and gore makes ALICE IN ZOMBIELAND a fantastic read.

First of all, I like the characters. Ali’s loss is tragic, but her determination to live is remarkable. I like her sass and angst. She knows she wants to fight the monsters that killed her family and I admire her for that. She’s brave and strong and knows how to kick some ass. My favorite kind of girl. Cole is quite bossy and irritating at times, but I think he’s cool enough. My favorite character though is Kat. Funny, funny girl. She’s hilarious and amazing and sweet. And behind her carefree personality, she has her own kind of strength. Who wouldn’t want a friend like her?
